Traylor Industrial is serving as on-site mechanical support for the Shea-Traylor Joint Venture on the Ohio River Tunnel project. Once complete, this project will collect overflows from 25 combined sewer outfalls via a tunnel and storage system located along the Ohio River. The 51 million gallon capacity deep tunnel and integrated deep pump station will capture overflow and send it to the existing sewer system for treatment. Ultimately, this project will protect the Ohio River Valley from overflow during heavy rain and floods.
Traylor Industrial’s work on the project has consisted of various smaller projects to support the construction of the sewer overflow tunnel. They originally started on the project when hired to complete a seven-week job in October 2020, but have since stayed on-site for additional mechanical work with a team of six mechanical craft. This work includes assembly of forms, rail switch units, rebar cars, and shaft door frames.
